今年も日々培っている英語力や自己表現力向上の一環として、1,2年生による英語スピーチコンテストが開催されました。
1年生は「レシテーション」(暗唱)、2年生は「プレゼンテーション」と「スピーチ」と異なるテーマで、各クラス代表の生徒達が英語スピーチに挑みました。
1年生 ～ Recitation Contest ～ 【 2/19(月)開催 】
| 今年も、1年生はレシテーションに挑戦しました。
キング牧師や緒方貞子さんなど人々のために人生をかけた人をテーマにした文章、また私たちに勇気をもって一歩踏み出すエールをくれる詩など、5つの中から自分が共感し自分の声で聴衆に伝えたいと思うものを選び、暗唱しました。まずは各クラスで全員が発表し、そこで選ばれたクラス代表が体育館で発表しました。
単なる暗唱にとどまらず、工夫された声の使い方、身ぶり手ぶりを交えた訴えに、発表が終わるたびに大きな拍手が起こりました。
司会も生徒が全て英語で行い、発表の後で感想も生徒が英語で述べるなど、体育館は「英語で自分を伝えたい」、という思いに溢れていました。
何のために英語を勉強するのか、が少し見えた1時間になったように思います。

Congratulations to all the class representatives.
Just memorising and performing the speech infront of your class is hard enough, but they went further and put all of their effort and ability into their performances.
The recitation contest is a great way for students to challenge themselves to get outside their comfort zones and find some of their potential and self confidence.

You all worked so hard to memorize and perfect your recitations.Your energy and passion were felt by all. Considering the contest took place during Black History Month I am especially pleased that the winning representative performed “I Have a Dream.” The recitation contest is a great way to become a more confident English speaker and learn more about important world figures. |

2年生 ～ Speech & Presentation Contest ～ 【 2/16(金)開催 】
| 2学年のスピーチ/プレゼンテーションコンテストでは、SDGsをテーマに、進学クラスの生徒は3～4人でプレゼンテーションを行い、特進/Ｓ特進クラスの生徒は単独でスピーチを行いました。
授業内に行われたクラス内選考を勝ち抜いた登壇者たちは、250人を超える生徒の前で英語を使って堂々たるパフォーマンスをしました。
英語は、世界市民の1人として必要不可欠なツールです。
そして世界で起こっている物事を理解し、自らの思いを発信する手段としてこれからも大切に学び続けてほしいと思いました。

Congratulations to everyone, not just the prize winners.
The speeches written and performed by the students from classes 5-8 show not only their awareness of world issues, but also their intelligence and impressive English ability.
The presentations from classes 1-4 showed the strength of the student’s teamworking abilities.

Congratulations to all the second-year representatives!
The second-year students truly demonstrated their excellent English abilities by writing and presenting their own original speeches. The SDG goals are relevant to modern society, and it is important for students to continue to develop their knowledge of problems within the world. This speech contest showed that Toyo students have a strong knowledge of the SDGs and are motivated to improve their English writing and speaking abilities. |
